Our friends and neighbors Kristina and Max came over for a visit the other day; it was a vibrant Fall afternoon and they created gigantic bubbles to float in the sunshine.

Some People Really Do it Up!

Yesterday we went for a drive around the area to photograph some of the AMAZING Hallowe'en decorating efforts people exhibited locally.  Some people really go all out!

This lady in West Asheville is really into the spirit of the season AND she has a free library book-trade-box on her lawn.  I was fortunate enough to chat with her and she is as enthusiastic as her displays:





There is a gentleman in the nearby town of Fletcher who made the tv news with his garden totally spiffed up spooky-style:

Zuma: Cover Girl for Critter Magazine!

November 1st, 2016.



October was an incredibly busy and fun month for Zuma.  We're having a really good time too, watching her bring happiness to people with her gentle, kind demeanor.  Somehow, she always leads the way to all the big time fun stuff without even tryin'.  And, because of Zu,  who is a magnet for cool people, we all meet some really fantastic folk, dogs and situations.

Along with some truly interesting trips, last month she won a contest (see October 16th blog about PETFEST).  She received a very generous gift bag of doggie and human treats and was given the honor of being the "Cover Girl" for Critter Magazine.

Today, the November publication of Critter Magazine came out on the stands and is all over Asheville and surrounding areas. Needless to say, we're pretty proud of the ole Zuma Dawg!  

Critter Magazine is one of the free publications offered around the greater Asheville area.  I grab a copy every time I see one and read it cover to cover to keep up with local k-9 events and we make it a point to support the businesses and rescue /adoption places who advertise there.  It's focus is on animal adoption and improving life quality for animals by supporting spay/neuter efforts, finding good homes for animals in need and educating the public.  Highly respected as a publication, local businesses rave to us about how much Critter Magazine does for the community as a whole.

It was pretty cool yesterday, to go for a walk around Asheville and Hendersonville and see mounds of CRITTER magazines with her humble face on the front cover.  If you are looking to adopt a pet or learn how to better take care of a pet, this is a go-to magazine.

We're very humbled by this honor, and very proud of Zuma.  Thank you, Critter Magazine.  


   

Canadians Tell Americans They're Great!

November 1st, 2016.

In these troubled and tumultuous times around the world, we're all relieved to see a positive news story.  Recently, I read that in Canada there is a social media campaign for Canadians to "Tell America It's Great".   The whole social media campaign was started by The Garden Collective, a creative agency based in Toronto, Ontario.  Hey, it's a feel-good thing.  Thank you, Fellow Canadians!  
I'm especially pleased to watch these videos (pass the tissues, please) because I am a Canadian living permanently as a Green Card guest in the USA.  And now, as a full-time traveler and observer of people and places in this great country, I feel very proud to be from our friendly sister country to the north.
