Yesterday, one of our walks around the Park, a camper notified us he'd had a visit from a Mother black bear and her three cubs! The young man is camping at the far end of the Park and he spotted them in a tall tree a few feet from his tent! He wasn't worried in the least about their presence because if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. I, on the other hand am not so cool, calm and collected about bears as neighbors. My main concern was for Zuma, what if she blew off her tie beside me and ran after the foursome? Oh boy. Thankfully, so far, so good.
He took photos and kindly shared them with me:
The Mother was carrying cub on her back and the other two siblings were climbing up separately. The camper informed us that they were to be relocated and we haven't seen them since. Apparently, the Mother was wearing a tracking device so obviously this isn't her first rodeo!
Doug arrived back to Asheville last night so we had a nice evening catching up.

We walked around Asheville today and enjoyed an Indian lunch at Blue Dream Indian restaurant. They allow dogs on their patio and are very dog-friendly, but it was cold and windy so she waited in the car. Then we walked a couple of miles around Carrier Park. It's the first time in a long time I had to pull out my winter coat and I was most definitely glad I hadn't sent it back with Doug.
Snowballs or Snowball bushes?
Speaking of moving clothes back and forth as the weather changes, Doug always takes back some things for me and rotates my wardrobe as the temperature is mostly 70-ish and has even risen to the high 80s. Doug leaves his clothes here so he always has space in his suitcase to bring me some clothes.
We had a good laugh about the TSA people opening his suitcase which contained several frilly blouses and 3 pairs of women's shoes! Plus, I'd asked him to bring some herbs and spices, which he bagged up in Zip Loc bags. The TSA people must have been scratching their heads and wondering about this guy carrying a baggie of oregano and the feminine outfits!
