The Mother Road & Slug Bug Ranch, Texas.

January 9, 2017

The trek across this part of the Texas Panhandle is really really straight and really really flat.  Every now and then you're drawn off the tarmac to hang out at roadside attractions like this famous place (a tribute to Cadillac Ranch a little further down the road). This is Slug Bug Ranch in Conway, Texas:

It's an art installment with 5 VWs buried face down in the dirt.
Here, you can feel free to bring your cans of spray paint and get your hippie on.  Hey, it's all about the people and artistic self-expression, man.  But don't expect to return in a couple of days and find your message still visible, people visit this place daily to leave their mark.  Just keepin' it colorful on Route 66.

Zuma thought this was a pretty cool place.

Next door they have great deals on hotels:

This old darling sits nearby.

Love the bumper sticker.
We're all living a great story.
Just tell it.

Route 66 is a trip, a trail of great stories.
Ya gotta love it.
