I hope everyone enjoyed a
happy and healthy Labor Day Weekend!
Many of the summer people are departing now that school has begun. It's hard to believe it flew by so fast.
Evenings at the RV Park are really really special. The air is fragrant with the scent of bbqs and, as twilight approaches, the atmosphere here is filled with the simple sounds of life: people making camping memories with their families and friends and of course, with their dogs!
This is Zuma with Scully, a female Great Dane puppy.
In the evenings, everybody takes their dogs out for a stroll. It's really nice that so many RV people travel with their canine buddies.
As the daylight hours are noticeably shrinking, we extend our evening walks, slowing down another notch, visiting with the interesting travelers here, taking in sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains. I met a lovely elderly gentleman last night. He was swathed in the gold light from the sunset and his smile was huge and genuine. After we shared a visit, he humbly told me he and wife are sad to leave and said: "We RV people, we're all like family". So true, so true. Especially when are all far from home. It's a warm feeling on these cooler evenings to meet and greet people; we may only cross paths a few times or see each other daily, but everybody chats and we exchange names and stories about our pets and often swap business cards, hoping to meet again on our travels.
Mostly, we stay here "at home" and enjoy a lazy relaxing evening after a busy day trip or hours with both of us at our laptops working.
We attended an evening concert at The Biltmore Estate a few weeks ago and it was great. Date Night! We saw Michael McDonald (of The Doobie Brothers) and Boz Scaggs. Yep, they still got it. What a spectacular setting on a warm summer evening, the sun going down over the mountains, happy people and great music.
We took The Queen on that outing. Because she doesn't get out much. Security checked our bags and questioned this plastic solar hand-waving lady in my purse. So of course, we had to get a pic of them together. What a good sport!
She felt right at home.
The house and grounds are nothing short of magnificent.
It was really fun to go out for an evening,
but we still love chilling out here with our "other family".
People make a place.
And dogs.
