More Biltmore Beauty

June 10th, 2016

We're so glad we purchased annual passes to Biltmore so we may enjoy it whenever we like.  The magnificent grounds are home for a sensational display of elegantly placed statues who stand proudly, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, the house, the gardens. They are gracious and regal reminders of the Vanderbilt family's exquisite style and they are now the only permanent occupants of this very special home.

It is such a privilege to walk the grounds with Zuma and to savor the constantly evolving growth and development of the gardens.

Zuma loves a romp through the roses.

On our way from the parking lot to the gardens and house, we like to walk through the impeccably maintained conservatory which houses a multitude of tropical plants, including an outstanding exhibit of stunning orchids.

On the terrace, ancient Wisteria wines
provide shade from the sun.

Recently, we toured the house, which is magnificent.
It's wedding season and bridal adornments are everywhere.

Currently, there is a special exhibit called 'Fashionable Romance', it is a display of wedding gowns and suits from a variety of period films: Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Out of Africa, Sense and Sensibility and a multitude of others.
Zuma had to stay home because dogs are not allowed
in any of the buildings.  Which makes sense because it would be quite a scene if a dog (especially a Great Dane) made a deposit
in the middle of things!

No flash photography is allowed so I only got one shot as my flash involuntarily kept wanting to go off.  The dresses and suits are exquisitely hand crafted, several won or were nominated for Academy Awards as Best Costume Design.

Well-lit and perfectly placed around the home,
perfect in every way.

They fit right in at Biltmore.
